Chestnut Studios, Sutton Mandeville, Wiltshire
MouseCode is a boutique digital agency based in Wiltshire between Salisbury and Shaftesbury in a beautiful barn conversion. We work with clients across a wide range of sectors including interiors, property and food & drink to name a few. We specialise in the design and development of beautiful, intuitive Shopify and WordPress websites, as well as offering PPC and SEO services, ongoing optimisation and website maintenance. We pride ourselves on our client relationships, the quality of work, and level of service we deliver.
We are a small but highly skilled team and we are now looking for a Senior Website Designer to help take us to the next level and champion our creative output. This is a part time position, preferably 3 days per week.
The Role
As a Senior Website Designer you will lead the design of cutting-edge websites from concept to completion, working closely with our clients, creative team, and developers. You will play a crucial role in shaping the overall visual direction of our projects and ensuring that every website we create delivers an exceptional user experience, staying true to our clients' brand and objectives. You will be a confident presenter, running through designs with our clients, ensuring they understand our vision for their project. You will help mentor and lead a junior designer and also be the link between design and development, translating briefs to our developers at the start of the build phase for each project.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all design projects: Be responsible for leading the entire design process for website projects, including research, planning site architecture, wireframing (where required), conceptualising, and creating beautiful, user centric high-fidelity designs in Figma.
Collaborate with clients: Confidently present designs to our clients on calls or in meetings, exciting and inspiring them and justifying the creative decisions made for their website project, both visually and from a functionality perspective.
Collaborate with developer: Liaise with the development team with the help of the project manager, to ensure a seamless handover of designs to development. Writing up development notes and ensuring the final build captures the design perfectly.
Manage and mentor: You will manage a junior designer, helping mentor them to develop their skills and expertise, managing workload to ensure they are always challenged and delegating where necessary during busy periods.
Digital brand refresh: On occasion, you will need to work up concepts for a branding refresh, including logo, fonts and colours, as part of a website project.
Applying best practice: Keeping abreast of all design trends and best practice to ensure every design we deliver is the very best it can be. Helping to carry out UX reviews on clients’ existing websites and being the port of call for any design or UX considerations from the wider team.
Championing our brand: Ensuring our own website is the best it can be from a design and architecture perspective. Suggesting improvements to the design and ensuring it leads by example for our clients. On occasion, running design workshops with our clients, demonstrating the skill and design experience we possess.
